Distinctives _____________________

At Living Faith Tutorial, we have a unique view of children and their development.

Here are some of our distinctives that shape our curriculum and our approach:

Children Are Image-Bearers of God

Every child is a born person, made in God’s image, and deserves to be loved and respected. While we set high expectations and clear boundaries, our students thrive in an environment where they feel valued and supported by teachers who seek the best for them.

Parents as Primary Educators

We believe that God has given parents the primary responsibility for their child’s education. The tutorial serves as an extension of the home, fostering a strong covenant relationship with families and encouraging active parent involvement.

Character Over Knowledge

While we pursue academic excellence, the development of Christian character takes precedence. We aim to cultivate wisdom, integrity, and a love for God in each student, equipping them for faithful living.

All Subjects Point to Christ

God’s Word is the foundation of all truth. Every subject we teach directs students toward a biblical worldview, deepening their relationship with Jesus and fostering a love of learning.

Small Class Sizes for Deep Connections

Strong relationships are best built in small groups. Our student-to-teacher ratio is 10:1 in the lower grades and 12:1 in the upper grades, allowing for personalized instruction and meaningful mentorship.

Education Beyond Test Scores

Each child is uniquely gifted by God, and we recognize that learning is not one-size-fits-all. We focus on the whole child’s intellect, character, and creativity, rather than reducing students to test scores or numbers.

The Gift of Childhood

We protect a child’s right to play, explore, and enjoy the wonder of learning. Outdoor time, hands-on activities, and rich experiences are an essential part of childhood. Our hybrid schedule and shorter days lend themselves to this important time in a child’s day.

Engaging, Focused Learning

We incorporate hands-on activities to actively engage students, while keeping lesson times short to maximize attention.

Intrinsic Motivation Over External Rewards

By de-emphasizing grades and rewards, we encourage students to work diligently for the sake of learning itself, strengthening their internal motivation and sense of responsibility.

A Rich and Beautiful Curriculum

Our students experience a well-rounded education that includes core subjects plus artist and composer studies, nature study, and weekly enrichment classes.

Living Books Over Dry Textbooks

Inspired by the educational philosophy of Charlotte Mason, we use of living books instead of dull textbooks. These well-written, engaging primary sources such as biographies, diaries, and timeless literature bring subjects to life while naturally teaching vocabulary, grammar, and the art of reading aloud.

The Power of Narration

Rather than rote memorization, students develop exceptional comprehension and critical thinking skills through narration retelling in their own words what they have read and learned.

The Habit of Excellence

We recognize that habits shape a child’s future. That’s why we intentionally cultivate good habits, including attention, imagination, observation, punctuality, and obedience.

A Joyful Feast of Learning

Each school day is designed to be a delightful exploration of ideas, discovery, and wonder, creating an atmosphere where children look forward to learning.

At Living Faith, we are preparing children for higher learning, faithful living, and meaningful service to God and others.
